AMD Announces Opteron 4300 and 3300 Series Processors

AMD Pushes Radeon HD 8000 "Sea Islands" Launch to 2Q-2013

According to industry sources, AMD pushed launch of its next-generation Radeon HD 8000 "Sea Islands" family of GPUs to the second quarter of 2013 (April-June). The delay comes in the wake of the company going through reorganization within its ranks, in response to poor market performance in Q3-2012. The company originally planned to launch its GPUs before the end of 2012. NVIDIA plans to launch a refreshed lineup of Kepler GPUs in 2013.

Xbox 720 Reportedly Due For 2013 Holiday Debut

Reveal likely to occur during E3 in June.

The long-awaited successor of Microsoft's Xbox 360 could be preparing itself for a holiday 2013 launch.

According to "people familiar with the company's plans" who spoke with Bloomberg, Microsoft is planning to launch the Xbox 720 in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas next year.

The majority of speculation pertaining to the rumored next-generation console has referred to an E3 2012 reveal during June. Other sources have indicated that Microsoft will announce it at a separate event.

The source of Bloomberg didn't want to reveal their identify due to the fact that the information is purportedly based on a confidential Microsoft road map.

This PC-On-A-Stick Costs $74 USD

Looking for a USB-shaped PC? One has already hit the market while a beefier, more costly offering is on the way.

CNXSoft has stumbled across a USB-shaped mini-PC featuring Android 4.0 and an AllWinner A10 SoC clocked at 1.5 GHz. The device, called the Rikomagic MK802, also includes a mini-HDMI jack to output 1080p video to an HDTV, a microSD slot for adding up to 32 GB of storage, a microUSB port for power and a USB 2.0 Host port.

"Connect a wireless mouse and keyboard to the device, the power supply, and an HDMI cable to your TV, and you’ve got yourself a cheap PC running Android 4.0. Since this is based on AllWinner A10, you could also insert a microSD card with Ubuntu, Debian or your other favorite Linux distribution and have yourself a Linux PC," CNXSoft reports.

The actual size of the mini-Pc is 8.8 x 3.5 x 1.2 centimeters, and it weighs 200g. Other specs include a Mali 400 GPU, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, and support for wireless peripherals. The power input is 5V/2A.

Windows 8 Pro is Now Free (by Mistake)

An exploit on Microsoft's download page allows users to obtain a free copy of Windows 8 Pro.

Users who attempt the download for the Microsoft Windows Media Center upgrade, which ends on January 31, will consequently see Windows 8 Pro being permanently activated.

For pirates, the exploit is especially useful as it provides an alternative to the company's Key Management Service (KMS). The KMS, which is built for enterprise users, delivers Windows 8 through a KMS host and KMS client, leading to the new operating system becoming fully usable for 180 days before activation.

As opposed to having to input an activation key, businesses can activate Windows copies on a local network. However, setting up pirate KMS servers will see keys traded across the web for free.
